Hi,
My last drink was in March.
I was in Istanbul with old friends, it was a good night, and I would do it again. Then I came home and did not want the next one. No rock bottom, no decision, no announcement. It just faded.
Here is the math that faded it. Somewhere around 36 my body changed the price. 3 drinks or more and I needed 3 days to fully come back. Worse sleep, a slower morning, a duller head, a flat training session or no training at all. Everything I had built, rented out for one evening. Then one day I noticed I was doing the math before the first glass, and nobody enjoys a drink while doing math.
The body was the smaller part of the bill. I have had nights I do not remember. More than a few. A body walking around with nobody home. I should not have made it through some of them, and I did, and I do not believe that was luck. I believe I was kept here for something. Most of the old traditions in the world, from different continents, with no contact between them, arrived at the same rule about drink. They did not run a sleep study. They noticed what I noticed. It takes you out of yourself.
I still drink non-alcoholic beer, because I like the taste. Gluten free or reduced gluten when I can find it, and yes, I know how that sounds.
Maybe one day I will have a glass of wine out of curiosity. Maybe. There is no pull.
I am not telling you to stop. I am telling you what it costs me, and that the price only goes one direction from here. In the Reset we take it out, not forever, long enough for you to see your own number and decide for yourself.
Me, I prefer forever.
Same time next Friday.
