Hi,
You know those moments. A walk where you forget you are walking. A dinner where nobody checks the time. A morning where everything just fits. For a few minutes you are not separate from anything.
I do not think that is a mood. I think it is the truth showing through. We are part of something whole, all the time. We are just not always tuned in.
It is like an old radio. The station is always on. Most days we are a little off it, and all we hear is static. The signal never stopped. We moved.
And you do not find it with your head. The head is where most of the static comes from. You find it lower, in the chest, in the heart. Thinking about being connected is not the same as feeling it.
You can tune back in. Sleep, real food, moving your body. A few minutes of stillness, in prayer, in silence, or just with your breath. Being fully with the person in front of you. None of these work alone, because everything is connected. That is how you turn the dial. And every time you find the station, it is easier to find the next time.
That is a big part of what the walk is. Not getting somewhere else. Finding the station, and staying on it a little longer each time.
One more thing.
Every letter I have written lives at walkbeyondyou.com/letters. If you missed one, or want to read one again, it is there. And if one of them made you think of someone, send it to them. They can sign up at the bottom of the page. That is a small way of tuning in too. And if these ever stop being useful to you, the unsubscribe link is right below. No hard feelings.
Same time next Friday.
